HUKUM HUDUD HANYA IMPIAN PERIBADI PAS

PAS YOUTH MUST RESPECT VARIOUS CULTURES IN MALAYSIA --VALENTINE DAY AND NEW YEAR CELEBRATION DO NOT EQUATE FREE & RAMPANT SEX
I refer to the reported statement by PAS Youth chief, Nasrudin Hassan who blamed Valentine’s Day and New Year celebrations as among the main causes of baby dumping in the country.
According to the report, PAS Youth Chief was quoted as saying that these occasions were celebrated in an extreme manner and encouraged liberal socialising and free sex, which resulted in the act of dumping babies.
[ Source: The Star 19th August, 2010 ]
I hereby strongly condemn the “narrow minded” statement by PAS Youth that alleged the celebration of Valentine Day and New Year as encouragement of free sex and dumping of babies.
Malaysia has always been a multiracial country since independence and the rights of all Malaysian to celebrate any special occasions had been respected.
The allegation by PAS Youth in blaming the celebration of Valentine Day and New Year for the dumping of babies clearly shows PAS Youth’s ignorance of various cultures in Malaysia.
PAS Youth fails to understand the true meaning of the celebration of Valentine Day and New Year by all Malaysians. They have also failed to understand that these celebrations do not promote free and rampant sex activity.
The statement by PAS Youth had undoubtedly tarnished the good name of Malaysians who had celebrated Valentine Day and New Year. Such allegation would cause suspicion on Malaysian who celebrated these special occasions.
Instead of making baseless accusation, PAS Youth should conduct a constructive and evidence based research if they are sincere in assisting the government in eradicating the crime of dumping babies. Pointing fingers without evidence does not solve anything.
As a responsible political party, PAS Youth must bring forward evidence to substantiate their allegation that the celebration of Valentine Day and New Year had encourage free sex that led to the dumping of babies.
In the event PAS Youth fails to provide any evidence to substantiate their allegations, PAS Youth owes a public apology to all Malaysians for making such an irresponsible allegation.

OPEN TENDER WOULD NOT ERODE MALAY INTEREST IN LAND
I refer to the statement by Perkasa yesterday urging for the government to review the proposal to carry out open tender for the sale of strategic land for development [ source: Bernama ].
Perkasa claims that such open tender process could erode “the little remaining assets owned by the Malay and Bumiputera”.
It is unfortunate that Perkasa is not supportive of the open tender process adopted by the government. Perkasa must understand that open tender will maximize the government’s revenue for the benefit of all Malaysians.
It will ensure that only those with merits, including the Malays, would win the open tender.
The claim by Perkasa that the sale of government’s strategic land by open tender could erode “the little remaining assets owned by the Malay and Bumiputera” is unfounded.
Article 89 of the Federal Constitution already provides for the protection of Malay reservation lands. Each state in our country also has their respective law to prohibit the sale of Malay reservation lands to non-Malays.
As such, the interest of Malays in the land of our country had always been protected by the Federal Constitution and could not be eroded by a mere open tender.
Besides that, open tender process would not exclude the participation of the Malays and Bumiputras.
On the contrary, such open tender process would ensure that ALL the Malays with merits would be given a chance to win the open tender process. The allegation of only the few privileged “Malay”" being awarded government projects would no longer arise.
Thus, the move by the government to adopt open tender for the sale of government’s land should be welcomed.

KEDAH PAS AGAIN FLIP FLOP ON HOUSING POLICY - 50% BUMI QUOTA IS BACK!
I refer to the reported statement in the Kedah State Assembly by the Housing and Local Government EXCO Datuk Ir Phahrolrazi Zawawi that the implementation of 50% Bumiputera Quota is still applicable for housing projects in Kedah, involving swapped Malay Reserve land.
The full statement can be obtained at:
http://www.wartakedah.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=330%3Akuota-50-peratus-perumahan-hanya-untuk-tanah-tukar-ganti&catid=36%3Aberita&Itemid=67&lang=ms
Previously in December, 2009, the PAS-led Kedah government had agreed to defer the implementation of the 50% Bumiputera Quota for these housing projects. This was after numerous complains by Kedahans over the irrational policy over a period of more than a year.
However, with the recent official statement of the Kedah state government in the Kedah State Assembly, it is clear that the Kedah PAS-led government had not deferred the implementation of the 50% Bumiputera Quota.
This “flip flopping” is another example of Pakatan Rakyat’s inability to come out with stable development policy.
Pakatan Rakyat must understand that Kedah’s development would continue to be stagnated if they refuse to implement rational policy.
The PAS-led Kedah government must understand that their failure to boost the housing industry and related industry in Kedah would also indirectly affect the livelihood and income of Bumiputera in Kedah, such as Bumiputera housing developers, contractors, labours and other people related in the housing industry.
This matter has persisted in Kedah almost 2 years since PAS took over the state government.
The Kedah state government must now explain why they have decided to continue the implementation of the 50% Bumiputera Quota for these certain housing project. This is contrary to their earlier promise to Kedahans to defer this irrational policy 8 months ago.
